Real People Real Stories

At Ancram Center for the Arts in the Hudson Valley, I was honored to share my experience learning how other people’s perspectives can change the course of someone’s life as part of Real People Real Stories (RPRS) fall 2023 season. RPRS is a storytelling event similar to The Moth where stories are told, not read. With no page between them, the storyteller is able to connect with listeners in a unique way. RPRS is an audience favorite and a mainstay in Ancram Center’s seasonal programming.

The RPRS approach involves a series of storytelling workshops in which local residents develop and shape their monologues with guidance from program director Paul Ricciardi. The results are an array of poignant, humorous, and captivating tales that celebrate community and personal connection. RPRS reflects the heart of Ancram Center’s mission: to provide the community a unique, intimate opportunity to connect and engage with one another through theatrical performance.
